The University’s contract with Malwarebytes expires this month. Effective August 17, 2022, the Office of Information Technology recommends using Microsoft Defender, the built-in antivirus and malware protection for Windows. Additionally, Microsoft Defender will provide antivirus and malware protection for macOS. We will have the macOS options available on the OIT Software Distribution Site prior to August 17th.
Any Malwarebytes clients currently managed from the cloud, including most university-owned Windows computers and the software distributed by OIT, will be removed on August 17, 2022, starting at 5:00 p.m. Once complete, you may need to reboot your computer.
If you downloaded the software from Malwarebytes directly, we recommend that you remove the software as you will be unable to renew your university subscription.
