ITS offers training for content managers on the use of WordPress, UTIA’s theme and custom blocks, as well as, accessibility. There are three training sessions which include:

  • Quick Start
    • The Quick Start Training is designed for working with the UTIA WordPress theme. Participants will be given a tour of the WordPress environment and have their own page in our WordPress training site to edit and add block elements.  When training is completed a user should be familiar with the WordPress Dashboard and understand the concept of using blocks to build and edit pages.  Concentrated attention will be with the common blocks and the custom UTIA blocks.  A user will also learn how to log in and out, add to the navigation and manage their profile page.
    • Training will be 2.5 hours and participants will receive a 2.5 hour training credit.
  • Advanced
    • The Advanced WordPress Training is designed for working with the more advanced features in the UTIA WordPress theme. This training builds on what was covered in the Quick Start Training session. Participants will have their own page in our WordPress training site to edit and add block elements.  When training is completed the user should be familiar with most of the available blocks offered in our WordPress instance.
    • Training will be 3 hours and participants will receive a 3 hour training credit.
  • Accessibility for Content Managers
    • The Accessibility Training is an overview of why accessibility is important to UTIA.  The training will look at the views on accessibility, the laws, and guidelines for digital accessibility.  The aim of the accessibility training is to help content managers understand how a design decision could affect those with impairments. This is an annual training where new topics will be shared each year.
    • Training will be approximately 1 hour and participants will receive a 1 hour training credit.

When first registered, content managers will be assigned the Quick Start Training in K@TE and once completed, they will be assigned the Advanced and Accessibility Trainings. As of June 1, 2023, all three training sessions are required to be completed prior to a new content manager gaining access to their website(s).
